About David Flatman:
DAVID FLATMAN (‘FLATS’) has been on the corporate circuit for a number of years establishing himself as an accomplished award host and after dinner speaker. He is a favourite amongst the sport and corporate circuit as well as the media industry for his quick wit and comic timing.
Since making his debut on TV back in 2005 Flats has gained increasing respect as a studio guest, co- commentator as well as journalist. His natural talent for writing and simultaneous ability to produce a genuinely insightful piece of prose makes him one of a very small number of contemporary rugby players who make the usual ‘ghost writer’ redundant. In September 2009 The Independent on Sunday signed him up to produce his first broadsheet article and in August 2011 he became Sport Magazine’s first and only Rugby Union columnist.
Since announcing his retirement from professional rugby in June 2012 due to a career- ending injury, Flats has established himself as a firm favourite in the corporate hospitality circuit, hosting and MC’ing events with clients including QBE, HSBC, Accenture, Premiership Rugby and World Rugby.
His presence within the media industry has also increased; often seen on BT Sport as a studio guest or co-commentator for their Premiership Rugby coverage as well as co-presenting Channel 5’s brand new Aviva Premiership Rugby highlights show every Sunday at 8pm with Mark Durden-Smith.
In 2015 Flats was named in ITV’s Rugby World Cup team to co-commentate on their live matches while he has also been an integral part of their Six Nations and Women’s Rugby World Cup coverage.
